The migration of Test4Theory to the new vLHC@home server is completed. In case of problems, we advice to detach and re-attach to the project.

Thanks for your understanding and for your contributions!

Hi there

First off all, CONGRATULATIONS to completed migration and nice looking new website design! Find it more comfortable to view and to navigate than the old BOINC site.

While scheduler update for T4T, the BOINC log said

Mo 14 Jul 17:42:01 2014 | VirtualLHC@home | You used the wrong URL for this project. When convenient, remove this project, then add http://lhcathome2.cern.ch/vLHCathome/
Mo 14 Jul 17:42:01 2014 | VirtualLHC@home | Error in request message: xp.get_tag() failed

Detaching and attaching to new URL worked fine, even kept identical ID for the host as it was before, including showing the task that was aborted due to detaching.

Greetings,
Bylo

I note with much dismay that you now refuse to send work to BOINC <v7.
Is there a definite reason for this? Many older hosts can't easily run newer
versions, although they can run newer wrappers. I, for one, don't want to be
shut out when I feel that useful work can still be done.

I had a message from Nils when I reported I had upgraded BOINC from 6.10.58 to 7.2.41 on my laptop with SuSE Linux 13.1. He told me that they were not producing any unit for the old app.

FYI
People who are detaching and reattaching to VirtualLHC@Home should make sure and use the URL indicted on the Project's Home Page
http://lhcathome2.cern.ch/vLHCathome/ as Virtual LHC@Home is not yet in the BOINC Project List. If you use the Project Selector function in BOINC it still points to the old (T4T) URL.

I'm now on the migrated Project... crunching... crunching... crunching
Note: Before moving to the new Project I ran the old Task dry (No New Tasks) and then moved.

Do you mean that you still get credit even though the task is aborted when detaching?
I still have a finished task that refuses to report showing these messages:

No no, did not get credit for it. :-)

The task that was aborted due to detaching from T4T is correctly shown as aborted "given up" and 0 seconds runtime here for the host that got the identical host ID as it had before on T4T.

Hi Bylo,

Sorry if you did not get credit for the finished task. We have seen these messages xp_get_tag() failed when doing an update to the project and keeping the old URL. So if you guys have tasks that just have started when the project was Test4Theory, it would be a good idea to abort them and then re-attach to the project to make sure that you avoid these errors due to the change of URL and that you get new tasks that can terminate properly.

(I am waiting for my BOINC client that started as a Test4Theory task to finish the on going task tomorrow morning and to see if it gets correctly credited when finishing. In theory the BOINC client connection should survive the redirect.)

I have 3 machines stuck at this point too.

Hi Nils

Sorry if you did not get credit for the finished task.

Not being credited was OK in that case, the task was aborted together with detaching from project as I did not wait what will happen to the task after finishing properly.

Greetings,
Bylo
